”Después de la primera edición de las Aves Comunes de la Cd. de México, el trabajo en campo de sus creadores no cesó, al contrario, se multiplicó y se enriqueció con la colaboración de otros citadinos interesados en las aves. Esto ocasionó que se observaran y registraran varias especies más, las cuales por su constante presencia, ahora las consideramos “comunes”. Así mismo, la lista total de especies recientemente registradas en la ciudad y su zona metropolitana, se incrementó casi en un 35%. Por lo que esta segunda edición contiene, entre muchos otros datos: 159 imágenes de aves mexicanas con sus respectivas fichas. Una lista de 223 especies, con sus nombres científicos y comunes en español e inglés. Además, se aplicaron los últimos cambios dictados por la American Ornithologists’ Union (AOU por sus siglas en inglés).” -- Back cover.
"Field research by the creators of Common Birds of Mexico City did not cease with the publishing of the first edition, on the contrary it was multiplied and enriched with the contribution of other city dwellers interested in birds, resulting in the observation and recording of several species that because of their frequency, may now be considered as "common." Likewise, the total list of species recently recorded in the greater metropolitan area, increased almost 35%. Thus this second edition contains, among many other facts: 159 images of Mexican birds with their respective index cards. A list of 223 species, with their scientific and common names in Spanish and English. Also the latest taxonomic changes as proposed by the American Ornithologists’ Union (AOU) have been applied." -- Back cover.
